Versioning
Shiprocket's API is versioned on two separate axes: API versions, which are path-based and change rarely, and releases, which are dated and describe what shipped in a given month.
API versions
v1is the API every seller runs today, athttps://apiv2.shiprocket.in/v1/external/.... It is the current, stable, default version and it is not going anywhere — there is no sunset date.v2is coming as a preview athttps://apiv2.shiprocket.in/v2/external/.... While it is in preview, its shape can still change; nothing you build againstv1is affected byv2work.
A new API version is cut only for breaking changes — a field that changes type, a required field that's added to an existing endpoint, a response shape that changes. Additive changes (a new endpoint, a new optional field, a new key in a response) never require a new version; they ship in v1 and are written up in that month's release.
v1 will never be sunset without a critical requirement and at least 12 months' advance notice, announced through the changelog, email, and standard deprecation headers. If that ever happens, it will be called out here and on the Versions page well in advance.
Releases
Everything that ships in a given calendar month — across any API version — is documented in a dated release at /releases/YYYY-MM (for example, /releases/2026-10). Each release page lists what's new, changed, or fixed that month, grouped by module.
To stay on top of changes without checking back manually, subscribe to the changelog feed at /changelog.rss in any feed reader, or watch the /changelog page directly.
What this means for your integration
- If you're integrated against
v1today, nothing changes under you. Keep using it. - Watch
/releasesif you want to know what's new each month — new capability shows up there first. v2is worth tracking if you're starting a new integration and want to be ready for what's next, but it isn't required reading for an existingv1integration.
See the full Versions page for the current status, release date, and sunset (if any) of every version.
